Join educators from across the state at a special Ethnic Studies Panel Conversation featuring experts from three of our community partners. In this session, we’ll be hearing about the historical and present-day experiences of Black, Japanese, and Jewish Oregonians. We’ll focus on exploring questions such as:
- What is the story of each of these ethnic groups in Oregon and what makes Oregon history unique?
- Where do experiences overlap and where are they distinctly separate?
- What are the contributions and successes of each group in Oregon?
- What myths persist about Black, Japanese, and Jewish Oregonians?
- What does contemporary resistance look like?
While every ethnic group in Oregon has its own distinct history as well as broad diversity within individual experiences, all of our stories are innately part of the fabric of both Oregon’s history and its here and now.
