Childhood trauma affects brain development in young children and impacts how students learn once they enter school and throughout their educational career. Participants will learn foundations of brain science and how it impacts students in classrooms, from kindergarten through higher education. Participants will practice a hands-on simulation to learn how early experiences have lasting effects on students, take back tools to try with the students you teach, and learn about ongoing opportunities through OEA to grow your skills in working with students from trauma.

Presented by Leah Starkovich, Professional Practice Organizer, OEA Center for Great Public Schools

PDUs available.  Workshops are for BEA members only – please contact us if you would like to become a member.
