What are the benefits of being a member?
Oregon Education Association (OEA) – all BEA members are a part of this statewide educators’ union
National Education Association (NEA) – all BEA members are a part of this national educators’ union
Portland Metro Area Educators – Retirees – Did you know you can stay active in the union after you retire? If you are planning to retire soon or are already retired, check out this group of OEA retirees in the Portland Metro Area. You can read more about the statewide OEA Retired group here. You can even join them before you retire!

Information about Member Benefits
Application to the OEA Relief Fund for Winter Storm Damage – active BEA members are eligible for up to $300 to offset out of pocket costs due to the winter storm in January 2024. Examples of eligible costs include repair costs from freezing pipes, downed trees, hotel costs due to power loss, etc.
2024 Mike Osborne Scholarship – for children of BEA members
NEA Member Benefits – discounts, scholarships, retirement planning help, etc.
OEA Foundation – mini-grants available for educators to support students in need
California Casualty Insurance – OEA members get special discounts on home and auto insurance
